Long Term Health Education and Training (LTHET)

The LTHET program provides officers the opportunity to obtain graduate or doctoral level degrees in nursing or closely related fields at civilian institutions. Graduate education should provide Nurse Corps officers with the knowledge and ability to successfully carry out a variety of nursing roles such as sustainment-base nursing and field nursing. To be selected for this training, you must be able to demonstrate that the area of study you select contributes to the Army Nurse Corps mission. Currently, all officers are selected for funding with a specified tuition cap.

While nurses are taking a full course load, they continue to receive full pay and allowances, allowing them to focus on learning, not financial obligations.

Specific graduate programs include:

• Baylor University --- Health Care Administration
• Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) ---Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
• U.S. Army Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program - Texas
