After completing the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, new officers are normally assigned to duties as a Platoon Leader in Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), 155 Howitzer, 105 Howitzer, or Radar equipped units. They also can be assigned as a company level Fire Support Officer (FSO).
