Chemical officers selected for lieutenant colonel should seek assignments of greater responsibility in the branch and branch/functional area generalist positions. The objective in assignments at this grade is to give the Chemical officer the opportunity to make a greater contribution to both the branch and the Army. Chemical Corps lieutenant colonels can be assigned as Division Chemical Officer, Battalion Commander, Depot Commander, and at higher-level staff assignments.
