Chemical Corps captains normally complete both the CMC3 (Captain's Career Course) and their CAS3 (staff training) at about their fourth year of service. This training prepares them for company command or duties as a Maneuver Brigade Chemical Officer. Other assignments for Chemical Captains include Combat Training Center Observer/Controller, Active Component/Reserve Component Training, Small Group Instructor at the U.S. Army Chemical School, and Detachment Commander in the Technical Escort Unit.
