Aviation First Lieutenants usually serves as platoon leaders in a variety of units, to include attack companies, cavalry troops, and air assault companies. For heavy lift and fixed wing units, they often serve as section leaders. Other positions include duty as a Company/Troop Executive Officers, Liaison officer (LNO), Flight Operations Officer or Assistant Staff Officer at battalion and brigade level.
