OBC (Officer Basic Course)
The first step in your development as an Air and Missile Defense (AMD) officer is attendance at the AMD Officer Basic Course (OBC). During your time at OBC you will acquire the tactical and technical skills that you require for your first assignment.
The course is physically and mentally challenging. PT is conducted a minimum of 5 days per week with a combination of Combatives, Foot Marches, Pull-ups, Swimming and Running. Your goals for graduation are a 270 on the APFT, 6 pull-ups, 200m swim, and a 20K foot march.
You will hone your troop leading procedures and field craft, while simultaneously learning the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) and Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB). As an Air and Missile Defense Officer (AMD) you will also learn the operation, capabilities, limitations and employment principles of AMD weapon systems: Sentinel, Stinger, Avenger and Patriot.
